You can update an accepted user's email address directly in Shilo. After the update, the user signs in with the new email address and their current password.

Before you start

  • Confirm the user has already accepted their invite.

  • Confirm the new email address is spelled correctly.

  • If the user is still pending, use the pending-invite workflow instead.

Update the email address

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Open Users.

  3. Find the accepted user whose email address needs to change.

  4. Click the user to open their details.

  5. Click Update Email.

  6. Enter the new email address.

  7. Click Update Email to save the change.

What happens next

The change takes effect immediately. The user should sign in with the new email address and their existing password.

Troubleshooting

  • If the user cannot sign in, confirm they are using the new email address.

  • If they do not know their current password, have them reset it from the sign-in page.

  • If the email cannot be updated, confirm the account is not still in a pending invite state.

NOTE: If you hired someone new with the same email address as a previous user you need to suspend that user first, and the new user will populate in the invite section!

Example: April Norris - [email protected] was fired and replace by April Schief - also going to use [email protected]. If the email is the same and the name is different see above - Suspend user and re-invite!
